Ford Park Cemetery 25th Anniversary
On the 25th October the Trust celebrated their quarter of a century milestone, we celebrated the people that have played a part in the Trusts history and remembered those no longer with us. 25 years later we have more than achieved our original aim and are guardians of a beautiful working cemetery, a place of peaceful contemplation where staff and volunteers alike have that rare thing, time for people and a desire to do the best they can.
We also have a vision, to enable us to maintain this special place into the future as a cemetery which respects the dead, supports the living, and provides general support to the wider community.
The world is very different now, and we have to change with it. As traditional income streams become more uncertain we are seeking new sources of income, and so we have set up the Ford Park centre, a community focused separate division of the Trust, to promote non funeral-related activities. This will include hire of our beautiful chapel, Heritage Centre and Northey Room for all kind of events, including civil weddings, parties, leisure groups, wakes, meetings and celebrations. We have wedding and alcohol licenses and can provide catering.
Supported by our sister charity - the Friends of Ford park Cemetery (FFPC), events such as fayres, lunches, concerts and talks bring in much needed funds, while our Heritage team delivers guided walks and exhibitions to tell the stories not only of those who helped shape our city but those of ordinary citizens whose lives, just as important, would otherwise be forgotten.
If you would like further information about hiring one of our rooms or the beautiful Victorian chapel or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the office on 01752 665442. Our office opening hours are Monday to Friday 9.30am - 3.30pm.
