Cemetery of Choice
Cemetery of Choice
Education is an important part of the Trust's community work, and we support all schools who wish to take advantage of the Cemetery's history or landscape.
To arrange a school visit, or obtain further information on what the cemetery can offer, please telephone 01752 665442 or email info@ford-park-cemetery.org
CHILDREN'S UNIVERSITY
The Trust is registered as a provider for the Children's University, an organisation that offers high quality learning experiences outside school hours for children aged five to fourteen. Each child has a Passport to Learning which is stamped on completion of an activity. Attendance at one of our exhibitions, completing the Trust's puzzle trail or nature trail would all qualify as suitable activities. The Trust also leads walks specifically for the Children's University. Further information can be found at www.childrensuniversity.co.uk
PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY
The Trust has been able to forge strong links with the University. We have hosted guided walks for first year history students, and other students have been responsible for preparing posters for exhibitions on Victorian life in Plymouth. In addition the Trust has benefitted from one of the University's Community Research Awards, whereby we received a grant of over £9000 towards the purchase of display furniture to help advertise of our heritage activities.
We also work with the School of Biological Sciences who use the cemetery grounds for research. Recent student projects have included studies into small mammal populations and spiders.
