Our Rejuven8 appeal marks a new chapter for Ford Park Cemetery in Plymouth. The fantastic generosity of our supporters achieved the £30,000 fundraising target by June but the challenge remains for us to raise the remaining £24,000 by September 2008. If we don’t we will lose the Heritage Lottery grant which is the majority funding of our Rejuven8 project. Success will see restoration of a Grade II listed Victorian Gothic Revival chapel into a beautiful venue unique in its style, intimacy, historic ambience and acoustics for community enjoyment - concerts, lectures, family events, exhibitions. There will also be a memorial to the city’s civilian war dead. The other chapel will be converted into a heritage centre - the focus of studies and appreciation of the history of Plymouth from Victorian days to the present day. Family historians, school children and local people who know Plymouth is special place will be able to learn more from the cemetery, a biography of the city. Ford Park Cemetery Trust of Plymouth (Registered Charity Number 1079060) is a small body of volunteers and needs your support NOW ! Make a donation (under gift aid) or raise some money for this appeal; you can find a Gift Aid declaration form here. and a donation form can be downloaded here... Please note that:
Linda Gilroy MP "The work of the Trust has been of incalculable value to Plymouth. It has harnessed the voluntary work of many Plymouth people and now this is an opportunity for others in the community to show their appreciation of all that has been achieved by them since 2000, by helping them to raise the target figure of £60,000 in order for the Trust to access Heritage Lottery Funding to match it with £8 for every £1 raised." President of Devon Family History Society Dr Todd Gray “The importance of cemeteries as historic designed spaces is often overlooked. Ford Park cemetery is typical of the gems which can be taken for granted and not be properly appreciated as living open spaces. It has made a tremendous contribution to the city of Plymouth and with proper care will continue to appeal to future generations.”
